Mawmaw and Pawpaw's 50th anniversary
We went to Mississippi over the weekend for my grandparent's 50th anniversary. It was alot of fun. We had crawfish and bbq. Drake had a blast! He really liked sitting by the "hot fire"! On Saturday night we stayed in a motel so we didn't have to sleep on the floor. That night Drake was up all night crying. We didn't know what was wrong with him. The next morning his foot was really swollen and purple. We think he got bit by something.??? We still aren't sure.

A JAS Life: Chili CookOff Milton Ward 2/08
A JAS Life: Chili CookOff
Drake gets beat up by a girl. I'm sure he deserved it. lol!
Cindy Lou aka Little Loulou
Now, I don't mean to brag, but this child is soooo cute! Of course she's an angel because she's only 7 months old. I'm sure she'll go through her terrible 2 times. I'm just enjoying her while she's a sweetie. The hardest part about her is trying to keep her on a nap schedule. She fights a nap with everything she has and then other times she falls right asleep without me even trying. That usually happens when we are out somewhere away from home though. I rock her and sing her 2-3 songs then I put her in her crib. Of course she screams and cries...I go in about every 5 minutes depending on her cry and pat her back. At first she would cry for at least 30 min. Now i've got her down to only 10-15. I had to do this with Drake. It works like a dream for my kids. Drake takes a 2 hour nap everyday and I usually don't ever have to fight him. He falls asleep by himself after his routine of a story and a song. I also had to train Drake to sleep though the night. that was a lot harder. It took me till he was about 12 months. I'm thankful Loulou was born a good sleeper.
Loulou is just starting to get up on her hands and knees. It won't be long until she is crawling. I'm so excited about that because she'll be a little more independent and can play with Drake a little more.
Drake and His Terrible Two's
It really has been terrible. The good thing is that there are sparks of cuteness in there with all the terrible stuff. This morning I had a really bad headache and Drake kissed my eyes and told me it was all better. He's starting to say "Thanks mom!" when I give him something. That right there makes it all worth while. He loves to sing primary songs. He sings them all day long. I didn't even know he knew any until he started singing them a couple weeks ago. His little voice is so sweet. He sings "I am a Child of God" and a couple others that I don't know the title to. I'm still not that familiar with primary songs. That will soon change i'm sure. He still isn't that great at sharing or being gentle with other kids. He's very rough sometimes when he's trying to play. I don't think he's doing it to be mean because he's not hitting or anything. He's just got so much energy and when he gets to play with other kids he goes wild. Potty training has come to a stop. I started gradually at around 20 mths and he was doing fine until Loulou was born. That's when he also went back to the pacifier (woa-woas as he calls it). I'm just now breaking that habit again. He's done really well the past 2 weeks. He only gets it at night time and if he wants it during the day he has to lay in his bed. Sometimes he will go into his room and get his "Woa-woas" fix for the day. lol! That's fine with me. I figure if it helps him relax, why not? The hardest part has been the part where he doesn't listen. It's like i'm talking to a brick wall. I'll tell him not to do something and he'll do it anyway knowing he will get in trouble. I always follow through with my threats. He still doesn't take me seriously. I'm not really sure why. Some days that kid lives in time out. Most of the time he gets in trouble for being to rough with Loulou. I know that he doesn't mean to hurt her, but I can't have him kicking her in the head and stuff. The worst thing is that he thinks it's funny when he scares her and makes her cry. He makes this loud annoying noise that makes her cry. If they are in the car and I run in the house to get something he'll make the noise and she just screams! I've outlawed that noise. Every time he makes it he gets in trouble. It sounds like the the noise Jim Carrey makes on Dumb and Dumber. It's when they are in the dog van and he makes the "most annoying sound in the world!" That's exactly what Drake does when he gets mad. I don't know if he picked it up from somewhere or came up with it himself. I know it makes my blood boil. lol! A lot of people I talk to say that it'll all be over by age 4. I'm not so sure. Here's to hoping though.
